Preserve Presence.
Thoughtfully crafted documentary portraits that preserve the voices, presence, and relationships that define a family.
The Experience
Every documentary portrait begins the same way: with a conversation.
There are no scripts to memorize, no perfect answers to give, and no pressure to remember every detail. The goal isn't to create a flawless timeline of someone's life. It's to preserve the person your family knows and loves.
Before we meet, we'll spend a little time getting to know you and learning about the people, places, and memories that matter most. This helps shape a conversation that feels natural, personal, and entirely your own.
On the day of filming, we'll take our time.
We'll sit together and talk about childhood, family, work, love, lessons learned, and the moments that have shaped a life. As the conversation unfolds, we'll also explore the spaces that tell the rest of the story—the kitchen where holidays were celebrated, the workshop filled with decades of projects, the porch where mornings begin, or the photo albums that have been opened a hundred times.
These quiet moments often become just as meaningful as the conversation itself.
Afterward, everything is carefully crafted into a timeless keepsake. Whether it's a full conversation, a documentary portrait, or a family film, the goal is always the same:
To preserve not only the stories—but the presence of the person telling them.

Choose…
-
Not at all. There's no script to memorize or timeline to study. Before we film, we'll have a planning conversation to learn about the people, places, and memories that matter most. On the day of your session, we'll simply spend time talking.
-
That's perfectly okay. This isn't about recalling every date or detail. The most meaningful moments often come from the stories that naturally surface during conversation.
-
Emotion is welcome. Some conversations are filled with laughter, others with reflection, and many are a mix of both. There's never any pressure to talk about something that doesn't feel right.
-
Most documentary portraits are filmed in the comfort of your home or another place that's meaningful to you. Familiar surroundings help conversations feel relaxed and often become an important part of the film.
-
Most sessions last between two and four hours, depending on the portrait you choose. We move at an unhurried pace and allow plenty of time for conversation and quiet moments.
-
Wear something that feels like you. There's no need for formal attire unless that's what you'd normally wear. The goal is to preserve an honest portrait of who you are.
-
Your completed films are typically delivered within 4–6 weeks through a private online gallery, where they can be streamed, downloaded, and shared with family.
-
Absolutely. Family members are welcome to join portions of the conversation, especially during Documentary Portraits and Family Portraits. Some of the most meaningful moments happen when generations share stories together.
-
People often tell themselves they'll do it "someday." But the voices, routines, and stories we treasure most are unfolding right now. A documentary portrait isn't about looking back, it's about preserving today for the people who will cherish it tomorrow.
